Key points:

Laying down onto back from a front hold
The starting position is a great variation of a day to day position to hold a baby.
Key points:
- A double handed hold on the body is maintained all the way down.
- Once on their side on the mat they can gently be rolled onto their back.
- The head and neck need less support when coming down on their side.
On To Front
Front hold placing onto tummy
Key points:
- Supporting hand is placed as a broad contact onto chest with with the forearm between the legs.
- Once laying down the arm can be gently removed.
Laying down from a held position onto their tummy
Key points:
- The baby is held close to the carers body on the way down.
- The head and the neck are supported all the way down.
- The baby is laid on her side and gently rolled onto her front.
Please note that although this baby is asleep, she is not being placed on her front to sleep. Placing her on her front whilst asleep is purely to demonstrate how to place down.
Laying down onto tummy from being held in arms
Key points:
- The head and neck are supported all the way down.
- The baby is laid down on her side.
- From the side position she can be gently rolled onto her front.
